Exit kits for course creators

Stop renting
your business.

Platforms raise prices, cut your contact limits, and charge you extra to use your own Stripe. OwnYourStack builds self-serve exit kits that move your courses, checkout, and customers to a stack you own.

The math your platform
hopes you never do.

What happened in January 2026

Kajabi's first major pricing restructure in nearly a decade. No grandfathering for existing customers.

01Prices up 20–25% on every plan. Basic went from $149 to $179/month. The $89 Kickstarter tier was eliminated.
02Contact limits slashed. Basic dropped from 10,000 contacts to 2,500 — normal list growth now forces a plan upgrade.
03Your own Stripe costs extra now. A 2% surcharge on Basic (1% Growth, 0.5% Pro) — on top of Stripe's own fees.
04The exits are guarded. Migration help lives on $199–399/month plans elsewhere; freelancers quote $1,500–4,000. Free guides are written by competing platforms that want you renting from them instead.

The Kajabi Exit Kit

A written, self-serve migration system. Everything you need to move in a weekend — no agency, no $4,000 freelancer quote, no platform's "free guide" with an agenda.

  • Exit audit: what you have, what to rebuild, what to drop
  • The new stack, with honest one-time vs. monthly math
  • Step-by-step migration: checkout, courses, customers, 301s
  • The subscription trap — moving payments off Kajabi Payments
  • Email templates to announce the move without churn

The Manifesto

Platforms raise prices whenever they want.
They cut your contact limits and charge you to use your own Stripe.
Your courses, your customers, your revenue — on rented land.
We think creators should own their stack the way they own their content.
One-time tools. Honest math. A clear way out.

Fair questions

Will my students notice the move?

Only if you want them to. The kit includes the exact emails to send, a redirect plan so old links keep working, and a timeline that keeps your current platform live during the transition.

What about my active subscriptions?

The hardest part of any migration — and the least documented. If you process payments through your platform's own system, those subscriptions are tied to the platform. The kit covers the migration path in depth.

Is a one-time stack really cheaper?

Usually, but not always — it depends on your revenue, list size, and tax setup. That's why the kit leads with honest math, including the costs other guides skip (like paid add-ons for sales tax handling).

Do you earn commissions on the tools you recommend?

No. No affiliate links. The recommendations have to stay neutral, and visibly so — that's the point of an independent exit kit.

Only Kajabi?

Kajabi first, because the pain is hottest right now. SamCart is next. The kit structure works for any platform that treats its creators like tenants.
